Many of you will know that this year has been one of the worst for flu, colds and other nasty bugs. Some of these illnesses have been severe and have led to a few of our students being hospitalised. If your child has symptoms such as headache, body pains and fever please keep them at home. We kindly request you do not mask these symptoms with a dose of Paracetamol and or Ibuprofen to get them through the day.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you around the school next week for the student-led conferences. Please leave plenty of time on the day for finding a carpark.
It was great to have everyone moving to music this week for the Runathon. A big thanks to the PA for organising this event, which is one of their best fundraisers of the year.

The children have enjoyed a range of activities aimed at improving their hand-eye coordination and general ball skills. Our students have had such a fantastic time!

Room 30 - Sharing The Planet
It has been an exciting and very busy term in Room 30.
As part of our Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry, we have been learning about our responsibility to care for living things. With help from our class buddies in Room 5, we have been investigating household pets and thinking carefully about what different animals need to stay happy, healthy and safe. It has been lots of fun deciding which animals might make great pets and which animals are better suited to living happily in the wild!
To bring our learning to life, we went on a class trip to the pet shop to find out more about pets and how we can be responsible pet owners. We were very lucky to be shown around by Keanu, an ex-Glendowie School student, who shared lots of interesting facts and taught us about some of the animals we have been most curious about – fish, guinea pigs, cats and dogs. We particularly enjoyed learning about the different foods animals eat and watching all the different kinds of fish swimming around in their tanks.
Now it is time for us to put our learning into action. We have welcomed a very special new member to Room 30 – Sonic the Fish! Sonic joined our class this week, and we are very excited to take responsibility for caring for him and making sure he has everything he needs (most importantly - love!).
We have also welcomed nine new students to our class this week, who have already settled beautifully into Room 30 and the wider Glendowie School community. It has been wonderful watching everyone get to know one another, make new friends and even take part in the school run-a-thon on their second day of school!

Year 3 Art Gallery
As part of our how we express ourselves unit of inquiry, the Year 3’s have been inquiring into how ideas and creativity can be expressed through visual art. The Year 3’s started by participating in two art workshops led by Hiranthi Jayasingha and Juliette Laird, where they learnt about the elements of art and painting techniques. Then students enjoyed researching a range of different artists and their styles, focusing on what they felt most inspired by. Using their creativity, interests, and inspiration students have planned, designed and have brought to life their own art piece.
On Tuesday we opened the Year 3 Art Gallery in the library where the students have proudly presented their artwork. Thank you to everyone who has been able to visit and explore the art gallery, it has been great to hear the feedback and discussion around our art pieces.
