Middle Years Programme (MYP) Information Evening

At Glendowie School, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered from Year 0 to Year 6. In Years 7 and 8, students progress to the Middle Years Programme (MYP), which builds on the foundation of the PYP by extending their learning into subject-specific disciplines. The MYP shifts from transdisciplinary learning to an interdisciplinary approach, while introducing structured subject learning and formal IB assessment criteria.

We would like to invite you to an information session about our Middle Years Programme In Year 7 and 8, so you can see where your child’s learning will head towards under our IB programmes.

This information meeting is also applicable to our Montessori families.

Event Details:
Date: Tuesday 26th May
Time: 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Location: Minihall

During the meeting, we will provide an overview of the MYP philosophy, its structure, the key differences between the PYP and MYP, and an update on our MYP candidacy progress. You’ll also be guided on a tour of our technology block and intermediate classrooms, with time set aside for a question and answer session afterwards.

Please register here.

Montessori Cultural Fair 2026

Every year the Montessori community celebrates the customs and culture of a different continent on our Cultural Fair Day. This year’s event was held on Thursday 23rd April and focused on the vibrant and diverse cultures of Africa.

Leading up to the event, we welcomed guest speakers to share their knowledge, personal stories and different perspectives of Africa. By being open-minded, students learned more about the similarities and differences between African cultures and were able to make connections with their own cultures.

Year 7 Montessori students took the lead in researching and organising an exciting morning filled with hands-on activities. Students rotated through a variety of activities such as indoor and outdoor games, traditional cooking and craft-making. A highlight was the drumming workshop led by professional African drummers who taught the students rhythm and active listening skills in a fun and dynamic way. The morning’s activity was followed by a shared community lunch featuring a variety of African foods.

The celebration concluded with a vibrant assembly performed in front of the school and Montessori parents. Students from all year levels sang, danced and performed skits and plays that had a unique African style. The colourful costumes, decorative props and catchy music made the assembly a joyful occasion.

Student voice Room 28:
"One of my favourite parts of the Cultural Fair was making the donuts because they were fun to make and were delicious. I also liked Tug of War and the drumming. But my most favourite thing was the Assembly because I love performing!" - Alyssa S, Rm 28

Student voice Room 27:
"Preparing for Cultural Fair was a lot of work and a bit stressful, especially for us Year 7’s who had to organise the activities and speak at the afternoon assembly. We had to step out of our comfort zone and be risk takers, as well as communicate effectively with our teams. On the day the hard work paid off as it all came together and everything went smoothly. We were really proud of ourselves and our teams for what we had achieved. "- Sienna F & Rose S, Rm 27
