WELCOME TO

Glendowie School

Our students will become confident, compassionate, life-long learners, encouraged to achieve their full potential by actively participating in our country and as citizens of the world.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome / Kia ora

On behalf of our community, I am pleased to welcome you and hope that your exploration of our website will capture the vibrant nature of our school. I also hope you will glean some understanding of how our school is a special place for our students, their teachers, and the wider community.

Glendowie School is situated in an absolutely beautiful location, overlooking the Tamaki Estuary in Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs. Many of our students walk or ride to school from the surrounding neighbourhood, which is a wonderful place to grow up with large parks and quiet streets.

International

Glendowie Primary welcomes International Students to our school. We know you will have a wonderful experience with small class numbers, wonderful resources, and caring teachers and students.

Enrolment Information

Glendowie School will provide a full primary school education (Years 1-8) for the children of the local community. The enrolment scheme defines this community by designating a geographical zone and for the children living in this zone, this school is deemed to be reasonably convenient.

Due to illness there will be new staff in the tuckshop today.  As Fridays are busy and to support the new staff, the tuckshop will be closed for Face to Face purchases of extra items.  Students will need to order their lunch through the lunch basket ordering system in their classrooms.

The tuckshop will be closed Monday to Thursday next week.

Thu May 18 12:00pm

Walking & Wheels Wednesday Launch POSTPONED until further notice!

Tue May 09 04:34pm

There has obviously been a huge amount of rain this morning and this is likely to continue into the afternoon.

Tue May 09 01:51pm

Everyone is doing fine at school and we are sheltering within the safety of the classrooms while normal lessons continue.

We have been advised of some flooding in the area. Our current understanding is that there is flooding around Crossfields Reserve and on Roberta near the school. If your child normally walks home past these areas please come and collect them from school at 3pm if possible.

Take care if you are picking up your children. Leave plenty of time to arrive and do not park illegally outside the school. If you need to pick up your children early you are welcome to do so.

Kind regards,

PARK & WALK…

Tue May 02 03:46pm

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the relaunch of Walking and Wheels Wednesday. It would be great for as many students as possible to walk, scooter or bike to school. A new initiative called ‘Park and Walk’ is also starting tomorrow and everyone is encouraged to park their cars at an entrance to Glendowie Park – Whitehaven Rd, Lisbon Ave or Hartland Ave – to encourage walking across the park to relieve congestion at the school gate. The Enviro Team will be out at these entrances handing out flyers. Give it a go!!!

We wish to advise our school community that we have a reported case of a student in Year 1 with whooping cough.

Thu Apr 27 05:38pm

The Ministry of Health has advised us to notify students and families, especially with those that are immunocompromised, those not immunised and those pregnant. For more information visit the Ministry of Health website

Deputy Principal Appointment

Fri Mar 17 12:00pm

Dear Parents,

In January we completed the recruitment process for a new Deputy Principal. The appointment panel included myself, Robyn Sinclair and two board members.

I am delighted to announce that Mr Charles Liu will take up this position from Week One in Term Two. Charles has a BA in Psychology and History and a Masters in Professional Studies, both from Auckland University. Charles worked for five years at Glendowie School as a Syndicate Leader until he won a position recently at a nearby primary school. He is very much looking forward to coming back to Glendowie School, and the staff and I look forward to having him back.

I apologise for the delay in sharing this information, however, due to circumstances beyond our control we have not been able to make this announcement until now.
