Glendowie School

Our students will become confident, compassionate, life-long learners, encouraged to achieve their full potential by actively participating in our country and as citizens of the world.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome / Kia ora

On behalf of our community, I am pleased to welcome you and hope that your exploration of our website will capture the vibrant nature of our school. I also hope you will glean some understanding of how our school is a special place for our students, their teachers, and the wider community.

Glendowie School is situated in an absolutely beautiful location, overlooking the Tamaki Estuary in Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs. Many of our students walk or ride to school from the surrounding neighbourhood, which is a wonderful place to grow up with large parks and quiet streets.

Glendowie Primary welcomes International Students to our school. We know you will have a wonderful experience with small class numbers, wonderful resources, and caring teachers and students.

Enrolment Information

Glendowie School will provide a full primary school education (Years 1-8) for the children of the local community. The enrolment scheme defines this community by designating a geographical zone and for the children living in this zone, this school is deemed to be reasonably convenient.

Dear Parents,

Just a short note to let you all know that we will be having some new members join our school community. Over the weekend we will have two bee hives added to the enclosure we have built in the harakeke bush on the field.

Bees are the most wonderful creatures and their presence will certainly create some fantastic learning opportunities. Before long we will be producing our own honey that we will be selling. If you didn’t already know, eating honey produced in the area where you live is very good for your health!

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Paul Crowhurst | Principal

settled start to the school year. We were not planning to send out a full newsletter today, however there are a few important points for everyone to note.

1. School is open on Monday and closed on Tuesday for Waitangi Day.

2. Our first bell will now ring at 8.50am (previously it was 8.55am). The 8.50 bell signals the start of the day for our intermediate students, but all other classes from Year 6 down will begin class at 9am.

3. We will hold a mihi whakatau for all our new students, parents and staff next Friday. All students will come to school and go to class as normal. New parents who wish to join should meet at the front entrance of the gym at 9am.

It has been great seeing you all around the school.
